We are licensed in four states and always keep up with the latest codes to keep you and your family safe.
Code Violations: Having your homes electrical system up to date will keep you and your family safe. It is estimated that there are over 30,000 residential electrical fires annually. There are also over 200 deaths a year due to electrical related problems, and nearly 1,000 injuries. The estimated value in property damage is over $600 million dollars. Electrical codes are set up by the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) in order to keep you safe from electrical hazards, when codes are not kept or simply neglected electrical systems can become extremely dangerous. Albright Electric is governed by the National Electrical Code and by law has to renew our licenses every few years through continuing education, which means we are always up-to-date with new codes.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCI): There are two methods of GFI protection. One is a GFI breaker, which when installed in your electrical Panel will make the entire circuit GFI protected. This is usually required for dedicated circuits such as Hot Tubs, Jacuzzi’s and pool equipment. The other type is a GFI receptacle, which is required for protection of a single outlet or a couple of outlets in series, without having to GFI the entire circuit. Generally used in kitchens and bathrooms or any other place where something plugged in can come into contact with water. Older homes were built before GFCI’s were required and often we are called to change out kitchen and bathroom recepticles to GFCI’s to bring the hoouse up to code. Call us to get your house up to todays standards.
Dedicated Circuits: All electricity that enters your home goes through your circuit breaker box or fuse box. Within your circuit breaker box/fuse box you have individual circuits that feed electricity into different sections of your home or business. Every circuit in the panel is protected by circuit breaker. Most outlets are installed on general purpose 15 or 20 amp circuits and share a breakers. Some household appliances that draw 20 amps require dedicated lines such as hair dryers and toasters. There are also heavy duty appliances like dryers and electric ranges which can require anywhere from 30 to 50 amp dedicated lines and must be protected by double pole breakers. Dedicated lines ensure that the appliance that needs the most power gets it without causing any power surge damaging anything else connected to the same line.
